Scaling Builder Incentives with Proof of Distribution on Ethereum L2
2025-11-19 , World's Fair Stage

Ronin is evolving from a validator-secured L1 chain into an Ethereum Layer 2. Today, roughly 30 million RON per year are dedicated to network security, but with the migration to Ethereum L2, that budget can instead empower builders driving innovation and on-chain activity. This migration also delivers a major improvement in user experience, reducing block times from 3 seconds to 250 milliseconds, a 12x improvement that makes Ronin one of the fastest L2s in production.

At the heart of this transformation is Proof of Distribution (PoD), an on-chain system that automates ecosystem rewards. PoD distributes rewards continuously and transparently based on key on-chain metrics such as transaction volume and user engagement. We are also backtesting historical data to identify which metrics best correlate with network growth. These metrics will serve as the initial framework for the builder score, which we will continue to refine as we move toward full rollout.

Ultimately, this model creates a virtuous loop: as builders drive activity, RON’s utility and value capture increase through gas usage and treasury inflows, which in turn fund even more builder rewards. This session will dive into the architecture of PoD, how we’re modeling growth metrics, and the vision for a self-sustaining, merit-based ecosystem.

I received my PhD in Computer Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2023. Following this, I served as the head researcher at Sky Mavis, the innovative team behind Axie Infinity. In this role, I contributed to the development of the Ronin protocol and ecosystem and currently lead its migration to an Ethereum Layer 2.
